Welcome
The BBG began as the personal collection of a remarkable plantswoman,
Rae Selling Berry (1881-1976). We have maintained and expanded
this extraordinary landscape in the service of education, conservation,
and horticulture for 32 years. In 2009, due to intractable financial
challenges of operating the Garden, the board of directors decided
it must find a new way to carry forward the legacy of Mrs. Berry.
A difficult yet ultimately positive transition is now underway.

Mrs.
Berry's Garden
Designed by Rae Berry, the 6.5 acre garden
offers optimum growing conditions for plants Mrs. Berry loved,
including alpine plants, primula and lilies. A rhododendron
forest and Douglas fir forest are home to trillium and other
Oregon natives. Stroll through the garden to find uncommon
treasures.

Saving plants
from extinction
Understanding the growing
threat to native plants across the Pacific Northwest, visionary
leaders in 1984 launched a pioneering native plant conservation
program focused on saving threatened plants. BBG's Seed Bank
is now known across the country as a leader in plant conservation.
