Wish List

Supporting us through membership is a great way to provide general operating funds critical to maintaining the horticulture, education, and plant conservation programs that make The Garden a true community resource.

In addition, consider a donation. You may specify which program your money will support, or allow us to determine our highest priority.

You can donate online, or by contacting Joan Gardner, Planned Giving and Development, at (503) 636-4112, ext 106.

These projects are in need of your support:

Education

Native Plant Trail & Ravine
Enhancements and safety improvements will allow us to use this natural area as an outdoor area, and a model for habitat streamside restoration. This project includes replacing a bridge, the construction of
a walkway, and interpretive panels and brochures. $5,000

Garden interpretive program
New interpretive signs will allow us to provide information to visitors, when staff or volunteers are not on hand, about our conservation projects, pest management techniques, plant biology and
more. Indoor interpretive exhibits are a way to share more in-depth knowledge with visitors in a comfortable setting. $2,000

Brochure updating and development
Our brochures need a new look and a few need to be developed. In particular, we'd like to be able to share with visitors more information about gardening with native plants, invasive plants, and other topics for the Pacific Northwest gardener. $1,500

Activity backpacks for families
It would be super if we could have available for loan backpack kitsfor families to use during their visits to the garden. Inside, they'd find activities, games, tools and information to make their visit more meaningful. $250

Intern
Support a student and the garden. Your donation can provide a unique learning opportunity for a student while helping the education program meet its goals. $3,500 stipend

Library
Help us keep our library up to date by sponsoring one of our horticulture, education, or conservation publications or memberships.Maybe instead of having your Pacific Horticulture delivered to your
house, you can have the subscription given to us and you can read your copy in the comfort of our library.

The Garden / Horticulture

Irrigation System
An essential for caring for this garden is an effective irrigation system. Ours needs repairs and updating. $9,000

Garden Compost Tea Maker
We are pleased to practice good earth gardening, and could become even more friendly to the earth if we had a compost tea maker. $500

Accessibility
Much has been done to make the garden accessible to all but much work still needs to be done. We need crushed rock and landscape fabric to create wider paths both for wheelchair users as well as to make paths more foot friendly in wet weather.

Heavy Equipment
Keeping a garden this size healthy takes some heavy equipment. Your donation would help us to rent tools to be more efficient.

Display Pots
we need large weather proof outdoor glazed ceramic pots for displays on the front porch and around the house and garden, in the traditional Cobalt Blue color range. Varied sizes, 12 to 36 inches in diameter. Prices range from $25 to $300.

Conservation

Database
We need a database to store our rare plant information as well as the support staff to enter the data. This is a crucial piece of our plant conservation efforts!
