Plant Propagation
Growing Plants for the Garden
Plant propagation at the garden is done to maintain and add to
the living collection of plants. Plants that are established in
the garden are periodically cloned to insure that a healthy stock
of material is kept in case of disease, insect infestation or general
decline.
Rae Selling Berry's legacy lives on in the many unique plants found
throughout the garden. She vigorously selected through her seed
grown stock to find interesting cultivars some of which have been
introduced into the nursery trade. We continue to preserve her legacy
as we look for outstanding selections in our growing operation.
The propagation program also insures that new and exciting plants
are added to the garden. We use the latest science based horticultural
principles in Integrated Pest Management, and greenhouse and nursery
production.
Plant Sales
We also grow plants for sale. Our plant sales are held twice a
year, though we also sell plants at other off-site events as a fundraiser.
As a specialty grower we are able to offer plants that are often
new to the horticultural trade and are sought by plant collectors
and enthusiasts.

Seed Collection
and Seed Catalog
Our plant propagator oversees the collection of seeds in the garden
and in the wild. While some are grown up in the nursery and will
be one day planted in the garden or for sale as plants, some seeds
are available to our Members in our current
seed catalog. Botanic gardens in North America may also request
our Index Seminum.
